Hope everyone had a great Christmas and are ready to make 2021 something to remember!
I had put all the art stuff away before Christmas having three different groups of guest coming to visit… So I was about to figure out a hanger for the gargoyle corbel.
I had to take a sharp chisel and do a little wood removal to get the embedded block flush first…
I have these aluminum, two piece, Z- clips, I am going to try and use. Anyway, they are about two inches long and hopefully strong enough to hold these heavy little boogers, plus the shelf, and everything else that possibly gets put upon it. Couple of shots of what they look like… I put one half on the wall and the other half on the exposed wood on back of corbel and then hang.
Then I mounted the other one the same way. I made a shelf 48″ long. I also made sure one screw in the clip on the wall side went into a stud for some extra strength. I didn’t have any 3/4″ lumber so I used a thick piece of 2″ x 8″.
And there you have it… My custom made cement gargoyle corbel shelf. Turned out wicked cool! Thanks for stopping in.
